No Fixed Role for Browns OL as Elgton Jenkins Predicted to Play Multiple Positions

The Cleveland Browns are prioritizing their offensive line this season and chose players accordingly. They are going to utilize them based on needs, which means OL Elgton Jenkins has a broad span to cover.

“Not only has he seen a significant amount of playing time as a center during his time with the Packers, but he has also seen time at every other position on the offensive line,” Dominic Pagura wrote on June 13. “Both tackle positions, yes. Both guard positions, you guessed it. Jenkins has done it all.”

In his article for Sports Illustrated, Pagura called Jenkins a true “jack-of-all-trades” and stated how the Browns have added a “worthy” piece to their team. The Browns’ record has suffered significantly due to injured players.

However, a proven lineman like the 30-year-old Jenkins will prove to be a reliable backup.

The Browns signed Jenkins in free agency with a two-year, $24 million contract, who last played for the Green Bay Packers. He had sustained a season-ending injury and was later released by the franchise.

“Jenkins was stellar for the Packers as a center before his unfortunate season-ending lower leg fracture,” Pagura wrote. “But that wasn’t even him at his best, as Jenkins was a pro bowler for Green Bay two other seasons playing as a left guard and as a right tackle.”

Jenkins is a two-time Pro Bowler (2020 and 2022) who earned a 62.0 overall PFF grade in 2025. Last season, he ranked 33rd among players with 538 offensive snaps, allowing two sacks and two quarterback hits. Jenkins played 310 pass block snaps and was placed 34th last season.

While Pagura has built a strong case for Jenkins to aid the Browns, he also underlined the implications his injury will have on the team.

Jenkins’ Health To “Determine” His Impact On The Cleveland Browns

When talking about the Cleveland Browns’ addition to their OL, writer Dominic Pagura factored in Elgton Jenkins’ age and how it could affect recovery.

“Again, a fractured leg at 30-years old, soon to be 31 in December, won’t be an easy one to bounce back from. So far though, he’s been participating in team workouts and minicamps to get back in regular season form,” he wrote on June 13.

Jenkins suffered a lower leg fracture during a 10-7 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. According to sources, he had a broken fibula, alongside ligament damage. This was another addition to the list of injured Packers offensive players, like left guard Aaron Banks and right tackle Zach Tom.

Still deemed questionable, whether he will be seen in action this season with the Browns remains to be seen. What are your thoughts? Tell us in the comments.
